President Bush Designated Month in Recognition

In a recent letter, President Bush commended the professionals in the pest management industry for their efforts to protect the public health and property of Americans during the April observance of National Pest Management Month. This is the 27th year the President of the United States has acknowledged that the committed hard working men and women of the pest management industry protect America's health, property and food and contribute to an overall healthier environment in America.

As part of the National Pest Management Association's (NPMA) mission to educate Americans on pests and the diseases they may pose, NPMA is launching a community education initiative, "Pest Control Goes Back to School."

As part of the initiative, pest control professionals will visit local elementary schools to discuss pests, pest behavior and ecology, and the importance of protecting your home and health from pest-related threats. Professionals will bring pest specimens for students to observe and professionals will demonstrate a new educational website, www.pestworldforkids.org.

"Pest control has significantly improved the quality of life for all ages," said National Pest Management Association Director of Public Affairs Cindy Mannes. "We have developed an interactive educational resource for children to explore the world of pests and learn about the important ways pest control continues to impacts their lives," she continued. "On behalf of the association, we're proud that our members are providing such valuable education in the local community."

The National Pest Management Association, a non-profit organization with more than 6,000 members, was established in 1933 to support the pest management industry's commitment to the protection of public health, food and property, reflected both in the continuing education of the pest control professional and the dissemination of timely information to homeowners and businesses.
